Shirley Crosskill , age 89, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on March 26, 1937, in Williston, Ohio to Donald and Daisy Davis. She grew up in Oregon, Ohio where she and her husband raised their family.
On September 23, 1955, Shirley married the love of her life, Richard Crosskill. Together they shared 71 years of love, faith, and devotion, creating a family that was the center of Shirley's life.
Shirley worked as a cashier at Foodtown in Oregon, Ohio, where she enjoyed visiting with customers and making lasting friendships. She loved playing card games and treasured every opportunity to spend time with family and friends.
Her Christian faith guided her throughout her life. In her younger years, she was active in the Coy School Mothers Club, served as a Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher, and was a member of the Women of the Church at St. Mark Lutheran Church. She was also a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church, Williston, Ohio, where she worshiped for many years.
Above all else, Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She found her greatest joy in caring for her family, celebrating their accomplishments, and making every gathering feel special. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, quiet strength, kind heart, and the unconditional love she shared with everyone around her.
Shirley is survived by her beloved husband of more than 70 years, Richard Crooskill, her daughters, Debbie (Steve) Palmer, Terrie (Larry) Ziegler and Shelley Snider; her brother Dean Davis; her cherished grandchildren, Jerad (Angie) Miller, Jenee (Todd) Brissette, Jada Anderson (Taaj), Jori (Tyler) Lee, Justin (Brandi) Palmer, Jacqueline (Keith) Doyle, Phillip Palmer, Kyle (Michelle) Ziegler, Stacy (AJ) Freund, Laryn (Jeff) Wheeler, Lisa (Corey) Maciejewski, Ron (Erica) Grosjean, Randy (Melissa) Grosjean, Greg (Emily) Snider, Tracy (Tommy) Wojciechowski; 40 great-grandchildren; and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Daisy Davis, parents-in-law, Glenn and Lou Crosskill; her beloved grandson, Mickey Ziegler and her son-in-law, Keith Snider.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the hospice staff and everyone who cared for Shirley with kindness and compassion during her final days.
Visitation will be held at St John Lutheran Church, Williston, Ohio on Monday, July 6, 2026 at 10am with funeral services at 11:30am. Burial will take place following the bereavement luncheon at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, Williston, Ohio or the Lake Township Fire Department.
Shirley's legacy is one of faith, love, and devotion to family. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave so freely and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
