Obituary

Shirley Douge, 95, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully May 10, 2024 at Orchard Villa in Oregon. She was born in Toledo Ohio on July 17, 1928 to Donald and Alta (Hauter) Smith.  Shirley was a 1946 graduate of Clay High School. She had been a member of the Lotus Chapter of Eastern Stars since she was 18 years old.

On August 14, 1948 she married Bill Douge and they were together 57 years until his passing in 2005. She was also preceded in death by her son, Dan Douge.

Shirley loved Hallmark movies, Florida, Blopops and especially her family. She made the best potato salad and had a great laugh.

She is lovingly survived by her daughter Cindy (Rick) Lauch, grandchildren, Lindsay and Adam Wilson, Alainna and John Hartnett, Rick Lauch Jr., Jackie Schutt, Tricia and Roger Bacon, 11 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Jane Neff and Ned Smith; Brother in law, Tom Douge; as well as several loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 South Coy Road on Tuesday May 14 from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Private inurnment will take place in North Oregon Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions in Shirley's name can be directed to Wounded Warriors or Deacon's Hope Rescue

Her family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Orchard Villa and Continuum Care Hospice for providing such special, personal care and emotional support.
