Shirley A. Evans, 85 of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026 with loved ones by her side. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 15, 1940 to John and Viola (Mann) Szabo. Shirley graduated from Woodward High School Class of 1959 and began her working career at the original Cousino's Steakhouse. She then worked at Robert Hall Clothing, Kidens Jeweler, JCPenny's Cosmetics and ended at Handy Andy's. Shirley was an avid BINGO player, loved playing scratch offs, cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes and traveling with her husband Jerry, but what she cherished most was her loving family.

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey E. (Jackie) Thompson, Richard K. Thompson; granddaughters, Jessica (Chris) Renner, Hallie Thompson, Brooke (Matt) Bodeman; great-grandchildren, Reagan, Jackson, Madison, Dane, Quinn; cousin, Patricia (Charlie) Wills; and best friend, Linda Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; and brothers, Bob and Steve Szabo.

Friends and family may visit Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., Oregon, Ohio, 43616 on Friday May 1, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Alzheimer's Association.
