Shirley Ann (Bates) Hall, 84, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born on September 7, 1932 to Harley and Bertha (Schiffer) Bates. Shirley graduated from Holland High School in 1950. On January 9, 1952, she married the love of her life Thomas Hall Sr. Shirley was a paraprofessional with Toledo Board of Education where she enjoyed working with elementary students. She was a long time active member of Unity United Methodist Church and Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary. Her hobbies included: playing cards and watching game shows with family and friends. Shirley treasured her Friday night cards and games with church ladies and her Bunco Club. Her true passion was being a caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great- grandmother. Shirley is survived by her children, Thomas Jr. (Judy) Hall, Bev Piper (Erich Whittaker), Charles Hall (Cathy McHugh) and Karen (David) Miller; grandchildren, Amy, Bryan, Jeremy, Lacie, Erich II, Meranda, Debbie, Tracy, Milly, Dixie, Eunice and Leslie; along with many great- grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren; sister Lila Szparka and brother Edward (Linda) Bates. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Hall Sr., and brother, Leland Bates. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery.
