Stanley T. Tomsic, 87, of Millbury, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Saturday, September 9, 2017. Stanley was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 12, 1930 to Anthony and Francis (Benedict) Tomsic. He attended Birmingham Elementary School and graduated from Macomber High School in 1948. Following graduation, Stanley joined the United States Air Force, signing up for three years and served a total of four years thanks to President Truman. He completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio Texas and completed his service at Davis Monthan Air Force Base, Tucson, Arizona. While in the Air Force, Stanley served in Europe, Guam, Alaska, and Hawaii. Upon discharge, Stanley worked at Willys Overland and a local marina.
On October 20, 1956, at Holy Rosary Parish, he married the love of his life, Kaye J. McBride. In 1992, he retired from General Mills after 40 years of service. He enjoyed cooking gourmet meals and was known for his pies. Stanley was happy while working in his yard, always planting an abundance of flowers, vegetables, and bountiful fruit trees. His wife Kaye J. used to say "don't stand still, he's liable to plant you". Stanley enjoyed entertaining friends around the pool in the summer sunshine. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie and deer hunting trips to southern Ohio with the Mittendorft's, Hoffman's, and Jeskey families. He enjoyed hot weather and vacationing in Puerta Vallarta, and the Caribbean Islands. His most memorable trip was to Europe with longtime friends, Marge and Emery Danko. Together they traveled Europe and stayed in Stanley's fathers' home in Czechoslovakia. While in Europe, they toured Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Austria, the island of Sardinia. It was a trip he said he would never forget. Their next trip to Europe was in 2012, again with Marge and Emery, where they spent 3 days in Prague, then the Czech Republic, then a river boat cruise through Germany, and finished with three days in Paris. He found great joy in traveling on "mystery trips" with his brother Steve and wife Betty "Toots" to celebrate each others anniversaries.
