Steve. J. Domonkos, 95, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, June 25, 2012 at Heartland of Waterville. Steve is survived by his sister, Dorothy Farkas; nephew and godson, Paul and Susie (Waganfeald) Farkas; nephew, Michael Farkas; great nephew, Thayer Farkas; great niece, Sara Farkas, along with 15 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julia (Henez) Domonkos and Stephen Domonkos; brothers, Joe and John Domonkos; sisters, Helen (Domonkos) Csabadi, Mary (Domonkos) Varga, and Elizabeth (Domonkos) Blaze. Steve was a veteran of WW II, serving in the US Army. He was a longtime member of VFW Post 4906. He was employed with Autolite, the City of Toledo, and retired from Toledo Tank in 1973. Steve was a lifetime member of Calvin United Church of Christ, where he regularly attended services. In his spare time, he enjoyed sewing, crafts, and woodworking. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Tuesday, June 26th from 5;00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment will follow at North Oregon Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Calvin United Church of Christ. The family wishes to thank the staff of Heartland of Oregon for the compassionate care they gave Steve. Also, a special thank you to Cathy and Trudy of Heartland Hospice for watching over him and caring for him.
