Steven Finelli, 61, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Monday, July 27, 2015. He was born on December 26, 1953 to John Finelli and Natalie (Ayers) Boley. Steve worked for 15 years at Century Link as a Communication Technician. He served in the Air Force and played in a folk music band while stationed in Belgium. A musician for over 30 years, music has always played a major role in Steve's life. He never missed attending the "Any Wednesday" parties for local musicians, poets and artists held in the OWE. It was there that he met his wife, Jennifer, who was his singing partner. He not only performed for many years at the Old West End Festival, but also booked bands and poets for the event. He had a passion for playing and preserving the folk music of the 1960's. Over the years Steve hosted open mic night at various local establishments, most recently, Black Kite Coffee House in the OWE, to encourage young artists to pursue their talents. In addition to music, Steve also loved to read. He had thousands of books, and would read anything from calculus to Robert Heinlein.
Steven is survived by his wife of 24 years, Jennifer; parents, John (Ellie) Finelli, Natalie (Gary) Boley; sons, Steven O. and Andrew L. Finelli; grandson, Grayson Finelli; siblings, Denise Finelli, Gary Boley, John (Kay) Finelli, Kevin (Julie) Patrick, Dawn Smrekar, Stacey (Rick) Esser.
Private family services were held Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Wildwood Preserve Metropark. Memorial donations may be directed to the Toledo School for the Arts, 333 14th Street #4, Toledo, Ohio 43604. Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
