Obituary

Sue Ann (Klawitter) Moszkowicz, 70, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Perrysburg Memorial Hospital after several years of health challenges.

Born July 14, 1954, to Edward "Jim" and LaVerne (Kowalka) Klawitter, Sue was the only daughter among four children. She was active in Luther League and a longtime pitcher for her church's slow-pitch softball team, proudly attributing her skill to a childhood farming accident that cost her a finger.

Sue found her passion for nursing while volunteering as a teen at Riverside Hospital and the Lutheran Home. A 1972 graduate of Clay High School and 1977 graduate of Owens Technical College, she worked over 32 years as a night charge nurse at Riverside and St. Anne's Mercy Hospitals, earning the nickname "One-Stick Sue" for her IV skills. She formed lasting friendships throughout her nursing career.

She married Joseph Moszkowicz on October 8, 1977, at First St. John Lutheran Church in Toledo, Ohio, and they were married for 32 years until 2009. They built a home in Curtice next to her childhood home, where she lived until her passing. Together they raised two children, Monica Gail and Joel Anson. Her children were her greatest joys and spent much of her life involved with their activities.

Sue was active with both the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts of America when her children joined. Sue was a Lifetime Member of the Girl Scouts, and served as her daughter's troop leader, and a First Aid Trainer. She helped both children reach the highest ranks of Scouting – Joel as an Eagle Scout, and Monica as a Gold Awardee. Sue was active in the PIGS (People In Girl Scouting) and in recent years, continued to attend Adult Leader Conferences.

Like her mother, Sue was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary at Christ Dunberger Post #537 where she held various offices including President. Sue also volunteered with the American Red Cross and was a dedicated blood and platelet donor.

Creative and generous, Sue crocheted, knitted, sewed, and quilted for anyone in need. She loved camping, hiking, traveling, and sharing time with friends—especially at the Oregon Senior Center. Sue never met a stranger. She could carry on conversations with just about anyone she met, and was known for being fun-loving, caring, and helpful. Known for her kindness and humor, Sue was a "second mom" to many and never missed a chance to lend a hand or share a laugh.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Edward David Klawitter II, and her beloved dogs, Super Sadie and Daisy Grace. She is survived by her children, Monica Moszkowicz (Jeffry Simms) and Joel Moszkowicz (Anna Buschmann); brothers Ronald Klawitter (Margot) and James "Jimmy" Klawitter (Penny); sisters-in-law Susan Klawitter, Victoria Pollauf (James), and Marie Kwiatkowski; many nephews, nieces, countless friends, and her dog Maggie. She also leaves behind Amanda and Jon Amazeen, and their children Madison and Emelia, whom she considered family. Special thanks to Mary Stein, Kingston Rehabilitation of Perrysburg, and Jerusalem Twp. Fire Department.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 29 from 2–8 p.m. at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home – Oregon Chapel. Funeral services will take place Wednesday, April 30 at 11:30 a.m. at First St. John Lutheran Church in Toledo, followed by a procession to Oak Wood Cemetery in Curtice for graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to First St. John Lutheran Church, 2471 Seaman Road, Toledo, OH 43605.
