Susan M. Hernandez, 86, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Susan was born in Toledo, Ohio to J. Merced and Victoria (Verduzco) Placencio on March 29, 1927. She married the love of her life Ysrael Hernandez on April 5, 1947. Susan worked at Hunts, then as a retail clerk for JCPenny at the Woodville Mall before retiring in 1985. Susan was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church, and raised her family in Ironville before moving to Oregon. Susan loved crafting and going to area craft shows with her daughters. She was a member of the YMCA where she enjoyed working out. Susan made sure for the past 35 years that her family would carry on the tradition of having breakfast on the beach at least one time a year. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Surviving is her husband of 66 years; children, Janie (Jesse) Sulaica, Tony (Beckie) Hernandez, John (Sandy) Hernandez, David (Mona) Hernandez, Diane (David) Kania; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Susan was preceded in death by her parents; brother; and sisters. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH 43616 on Monday May 13, 2013 from 2-9 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. The family will also greet friends at St. Stephen'™s Catholic Church on Tuesday from 9:30 until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30. Interment will take place at St. Ignatius Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Susan'™s name may be directed to St. Stephens Catholic Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
