Thelma Mae Brewer, 82, of Oregon, Ohio, went to be with the Lord, November 7, 2003. She was born January 21, 1921, to Binger Addison and Ada (Burnworth) Show. Thelma enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, cut glass and many other activities. She was an avid gardener. Thelma graduated from Massillon City Hospital School of Nursing 1942. Her career as a registered nurse was one of great pride. Post-graduate study on Operating Room Supervision and techniques at St. John's Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield, Illinois. Among the various nursing positions she was head nurse in recovery room at Riverside Hospital from 1957 to 1977. Thelma was the director of central supply department from 1977 to 1985. She worked at Riverside Hospital for 31 years. Retired in 1985. Thelma's bio was in "Who's who in American Nursing".
Her parents; her husband, Kenneth W. Brewer, and her step-daughter, Patti Roddenbeck, preceded her in death. She is survived by her sons, James A. Salyer (Renee), Geoffrey Brewer (Connie), and step-son, Dennis Brewer (LaVerne); daughter, Mary E. Toth (Gregg), and step-daughter, Gloria Roth (George); sister, Lillian Link; brother, Howard Show; grandsons, Brian Brewer and Travis Toth; granddaughters, Amanda Bullimore (Ben), Sarah Brewer, and Alexandra Toth, also many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Thelma was a loving mother and devoted friend. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She was a member of Ottawa River United Methodist Church since 1962. Served as a member of Pastor Parish Committee, chairmember and lay delegate at the annual conference for seven years.
Family and friends may call at the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, on Monday from 2-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday in Heritage Christian Church, Coy and Brown Rds. at 11 a.m. and where her family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Thelma's memory are asked to consider Hertiage Christian Church.
