Ted H. Stapleton, age 82, of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away peacefully Friday, October 20, 2017 at his home from complications of Parkinsons Disease. Ted was born January 26, 1935 to Harry and Helen (Ridley)Stapleton in Toledo, Ohio. He is a 1953 graduate of DeVilbiss High School and attended Toledo University where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. His lifelong career in Information Technology began at Libbey Glass in 1957; joining the MISCO (McCalls Information Services) group in 1965 in Dayton, Ohio that initiated the first magazine subscription fulfillment programs. He then became a systems analyst at NCR in Dayton until 1984 when he joined the Computer Security Department at Progress Energy in Raleigh, North Carolina (formerly Carolina Power and Light, now merged into Duke Power), retiring in 2000. July 12, 1957 he married his High School sweetheart, Marilyn Heinrich, in Trinity Church. They were members of Ashland Avenue Baptist Church in Toledo, then the First Baptist Church of Dayton. Ted's community volunteering involved Boy Scouts and Little League coaching. He and his wife enjoyed family gatherings and many travels together, whether for business or pleasure. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marilyn; sons, Kenneth (Sarah Voisinet) Stapleton of Woodstock, Georgia, Douglas (Tracey Pardieck) Stapleton of Canton, Georgia, and Thomas (Chris Smith) Stapleton of Tipp City, Ohio; grandchildren, Brad, Robert, Jared, Kelsey, Mick and Kathryn; niece, Karen Spadefore of Liverpool, New York, and nephew, Don Bambacht of San Diego. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Suzanne Bambacht. Expressions of sympathy in Ted's memory may be sent to American Parkinsons Disease Association of Georgia. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Toledo Memorial Park, Swan Lake Chapel, 6832 Monroe St., Toledo.
