Theresa Manon (Powers) Adcock, 104, passed away on December 3, 2013. She was born October 5, 1909 to John E. and Lora Powers, in Carbon Hill, Ohio. In 1921, her family moved to Logan, Ohio, where her father managed a coal mine and a Willys automobile dealership. She graduated from Logan High School in 1928, and earned a BA from Ohio University. She taught elementary school in Greendale, Oreville, and Logan during the 1930'™s. She married Henry S. Adcock on June 21, 1939. In 1941, they moved to Toledo, but she returned to Logan when he was drafted and served with SHAFE in Europe. They returned to Toledo in 1947. Manon taught first grade at Raymer School from 1953 to 1975. She was active in the PTA and Cub Scouts. After retiring, she enjoyed making ceramics, baking cookies, gardening, and traveling. She especially enjoyed visiting her son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughters in London. The support of her neighbors allowed her to live in her own home in Oregon until her death.
She is survived by her son Douglas (Holley) Adcock, her granddaughters Gwendolyn (Patrick) Payne and Elizabeth (Benjamin) McFeeters, and her great grandsons, Jonah, Jude, Jack, and James Payne. She was preceded in death by her husband and her sister, Florence 'œDaisy' Roberts.
Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday, December 5, 2013 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, in Logan, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
