Thomas J. Haas, 67, passed away suddenly on May 3, 2010. He was born in Toledo on October 23, 1942 to Thomas and Marie (Burkhardt) Haas. Tom worked at Jeep for 28 years before retiring in 1992. He was a lover of music, especially the blues. He enjoyed playing the organ in the band the "Vandals" He also played guitar, harmonica and saxophone. Tom enjoyed working in his garage, watching movies and TV. He enjoyed anything with James Bond and Clint Eastwood. Tom loved festivals, including the Birmingham Ethnic Festival. Tom enjoyed spending time with his dog, Coop. Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Nancy; daughter, Deanna (Richard) Smith; step-children,, Marcia (Mark) Schwierking, Michael Erard, Monica (Roger) Calmes, Mark (Lisa) Erard, Matthew (Kim) Erard, Michelle (Tim) Sternberg; grandchildren, Ashley and Thomas "Ty" Smith; 12 step-grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Sandra (Delton) Opfer; special niece, Tanya Skouroukos. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie and Thomas; brother, Robert Haas. Visitation will be at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Friday, May 7, 2010, from 2:00 -8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. with interment following in Saint Rose Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Tom's memory can be made to the American Heart Association .
