Thomas Hauenstein, 69 of Toledo passed away surrounded by his loving family, September 3 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Perrysburg. Proceeded in death by his parents, Herbert and Marjorie (Wice) Hauenstein. Tom was a United States Army Veteran. He retired in 1994 after 28 years of service on the Toledo Fire Department, stations 12 and 24. He was a member of the American Legion, G.A.F. Society, G.B.U., & Toledo Swiss Mens Society. Tom enjoyed watching The Detroit Tigers & Red Wings. Toms favorite times were spent with family. He cherished the times he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was their most loyal fan at all their sporting events. Loving to travel, Toms most memorable trip was a family cruise to Alaska. Wednesday lunches at Luckies Barn and Grill and Friday nights spent at the G.A.F. Clubhouse with friends meant a great deal to him. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, JoAnn; Children, Lori (Andy) Cousino, Greg (Paula) Hauenstein; Grandchildren, Joe (Tina), Kelsey & Rachel Cousino, Jake, Cam & Caleb Hauenstein; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Rich (Liz) Hauenstein. Tom and his best buddy Tony Tomase have been re-united in heaven at a place called "Luckies Barn & Grill". Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel on Friday from 3:00-9:00 pm with a Last Alarm Service at 7p.m. Celebration of Toms life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30 am.
