Obituary

Thomas A. Lewis, 90, of Perrysburg, Ohio, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Friday, October 4, 2013. Tom was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 23, 1923 to Lemuel and Sophia (Kieffer) Lewis. A graduate of Macomber High School, Tom was an East Toledo resident for over 60 years. Tom enlisted in the US Army in 1943 as a member of the 449th MP Company. In 1944, Tom was part of the invasion force on D-Day on Utah Beach, where he received 5 Bronze Stars. On November 20, 1954, he married A. Rita Suprick and enjoyed 50 years of marriage. Tom was employed as a cabinet maker with Ettl Company for 39 years. He later worked for First Federal Savings and Loan as Buildings and Grounds Manager for 11 years, retiring in 1984. Tom was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Tom is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Tom) Smith and Andrea (John) Weisenburger; granddaughters, Erica (Tony) Dworznik, Sarah (Derek) Yundt, Kelsey and Kaylyn Weisenburger; sisters in-law, Mary Suprick and Madeline Cook; and cousin, 'œLittle Brother', Dr. Edward (Mary) Keiffer. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, A. Rita, and brother, Paul Lewis. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Monday, October 7, 2013 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Epiphany of The Lord Parish, Sacred Heart Church, 509 Oswald Street, Toledo, on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 11:00 am (meet directly at church). Interment will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or The Sight Center of Northwest Ohio.
