Thomas W. J. McKee, 86, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away January 1, 2019 at Landings of Oregon. He was born in Ogdensburg, New York on October 5, 1932 to Thomas W. McKee and Bernadette (Bayard) McKee. After graduating high school Thomas enlisted in the United States Army. Thomas married Geraldine (Carpenter) on August 23, 1974. He was a First Assistant Engineer for the Columbia Oglebay-Norton Company and sailed the Great Lakes on several ships including the Edmund Fitzgerald. After his 45 years of service he retired in 1995 as a licensed Chief Engineer. He enjoyed going to his daughters bowling tournaments and traveling. Thomas was an animal lover, enjoyed rooting for Syracuse, Chicago Blackhawks and the New York Yankees. He was a kind soul who was loved by everyone and was always the life of the party. Tom will be deeply missed.
Surviving is his wife, Geraldine; daughter, Jennifer (Amanda) McKee; step-son Alexander (Joyce) Degregorio Jr.; step-daughter, Lisa (Rob) Zautner; grandchildren, James, Nichole, Ashlee; nephew Matt; niece, Molly; and sister-in-law, Martha McKee. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roland and grandson, Corey Zautner
Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Friday January 4, 2019 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Friends may also visit on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at St. Ignatius Church, 212 N. Stadium, Oregon, Ohio from 10:00 am until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Thomas' name may be directed to Southern Care Hospice of Alzheimer's Association.
