Thomas M. "Mitch" Sutphin, 79, of Northwood, Ohio, passed away October 30, 2007, in his home. He was born in Roane County, West Virginia on September 11, 1928 to Hayward and Eula (Langford) Sutphin. Mitch had been employed by Conrail as a brakeman, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Paragon Masonic Lodge, the "Fassett Group" and Waite High School, Inc.
Surviving are his daughters, Becky (Larry) Trover, Debbie Turner, Melissa Hackim and Maddie Sutphin; son, Jeff (Sue) Sutphin; grandchildren, Judy Prange, Kelly Theisen, Tommy and Mike Sutphin, Ginny and Rose Trover, Rachel, Jessica and Adam Kaverman; great-grand-children, Jared, Jackson, Lea and Olivia; brothers, Carroll (Nancy) and Millard Sutphin; sister, Vera Burrey; sisters-in-law, Marie Sutphin and Jeanne Sutphin. Mitch was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice, and brothers, Obre, Danny and Hollie.
Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH, on Friday from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1930 Bradner Rd., Northwood, OH, on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. where the family will greet friends and relatives beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery.
