Vincent D. Nowakowski, 82, of Genoa , passed away Wednesday, June 23rd at Genoa Care Center . He was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 14, 1927 to Vincent Karl and Martha (Przybylski) Nowakowski. Vincent served in the US Navy during WWII in the Philippines . On June 25, 1949, he married June Cook and she preceded him in death June 10, 1996. Vince worked as a bus driver for the former Community Traction Company. He later worked for TARTA as a Station Master and Dispatcher for 44 years, retiring in 1992. For many years, he was the 'œVoice of TARTA' for WSPD morning radio. Vince was a lifelong member of St Clement Parish and member of Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree, Council 3122, West Toledo . Vince was a member of Ohio Legion Post and later became a member of Hudson MI American Legion Post 180. He enjoyed spending summers at Posey Lake and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Vincent is survived by his children; Charlene (Rodney) Snyder, John F. (Lori Patterson), and Harold 'œMike' of Dayton; grandchildren, Jim, Holly, Steve, Ryan, Jessica, Matt, Nicholas, and Marqi; great-grandchildren, Brian, Karen, Nathan, Keana, Spencer, Riley, Kylee, and Gemma; brother, Fr. Jerry Nowakowski;, and sister, Patricia Skoczyn. Also survived by many loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife June, and sister, Shirley.
Friends may call at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road on Monday, June 28th from 2:00 - 9:00 pm where a scripture service will be conducted at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will begin at 10:15 am Tuesday with prayers in the funeral home and proceed to Good Shepherd Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Celebrant: Fr. Jerry Nowakowski. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery . Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association, Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio, or charity of the donor'™s choice.

Services: Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church
