Obituary

Viola Angeline Langley, 89, entered peacefully into heaven May 17, 2014 at Parkcilffe Community where she had lived and was cared for the last 3 years of her life. Viola was born on April 9, 1925 as Viola Durdel to Albert and Anna (Deno) Durdel of Oak Harbor, Ohio. She was the youngest of ten children. Viola spent her life caring for others. As a young woman, she graduated from the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. Soon after she spent time in the Cadet Corps caring for wounded soldiers. She worked as a Registered Nurse in Monroe and Muskegon, Michigan for several years. In 1963, she moved herself and her three children to Toledo, Ohio where she worked 30 years at Toledo Hospital as a surgical nurse and nursing supervisor, retiring in 1990. Viola worked and raised her three children on her own, loving and providing for all of them. Everyone who knew Viola truly loved her, she gave so much of herself in everything she did, never complaining and always smiling. She will be dearly missed. Viola is survived by her daughter, Kris (Bryan) Waldron, and son, Michael (Jeanie) Langley; daughter-in-law, Becky Langley; grandchildren, Luke (Kelly) Waldron, Kelly Jo ( Jay) Gilmore, Cole Waldron, Jack Waldron, Cassie (Matthew) Wicks, Evin (Heather) Langley, Stuart (Rebecca) Langley, Jason, Langley, Jeremy Langley, Christopher Langley, Kimberly Langley, and Brandon Langley; sister, Leona Eck; along with many great grandchildren, loving family members, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Douglas William Langley; 5 brothers, and 3 sisters. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 23, 2014 at 11:00 am in the chapel of the Lutheran Home at Toledo, 131 N. Wheeling Street, Toledo. A luncheon will follow. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Parkcliffe Community and their wonderful staff of caregivers and also Gentiva Hospice for the amazing care of Viola and her family.
