Viola Mary Nelson, 93, of Curtice, Ohio passed away June 15, 2011 at Orchard Villa. She was born on December 18, 1917 to Charles J. and Clara (Hausenkamp) Diefenthaler. Viola married Edward O. Nelson on April 6, 1940. He preceded her in death on February 24, 1988. She was a member of First St. John Lutheran Church, Toledo where she worked at many church dinners with her sisters-in-law, and was also a member of the Ruth Circle. While at the care center (Orchard Villa), Viola enjoyed sharing stories about living on the farm with her 6 brothers. She enjoyed cooking, baking and many years of canning fruit and vegetables from her garden. Viola had many nice memories of her nieces and nephews. Her grandson was special to her, and would brighten her day when he came to visit her at the care center. Surviving are her daughter, Susan (Todd) Rathke; grandson, Alexander E. Rathke; sisters-in-law, Mildred, Shirley and Anabel Diefenthaler; brother-in-law, Robert Nelson. Viola was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Clifford 'œTippy', Richard, Donald, Lester, Kenny and Glen Diefenthaler; sisters-in-law, Helen and Alma Diefenthaler. Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel,1111 Woodville Road on Sunday, June 19, 2011 from 2-9 pm. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday at 1:00 p.m. with interment following in Allen Township Cemetery.
