Violet C. Nelson, 59, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015 at home. She was born on June 22, 1955 to James and Jeanette (Petcoff) Mathews. Vicki was a graduate of Waite High School. She worked as a bartender and waitress for Terry's and Central Hot Dog for many years. Aside from work, she enjoyed coloring, crocheting, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. Vicki was known for being kind and loving; she always had her door open to everyone. Vicki is survived by her children, William Nelson, Robert Nelson, Melissa (Eric) Nierman, Melinda Williamson, Cassandra Gomoll, Elizabeth Jacobs and Nikki Fields; sisters, Netha Mathews Hamman, Jeannie Mathews Edwards and Lyn Mathews Gibbs; brother, Jonas Mathews; 11 grandchildren; and adopted mother, Shirleen Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Lee Nelson; parents; and adopted father, Robert Wilson. Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 South Coy Road Saturday, June 13, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Violet's family.
