Violetta "Collins" Wood, 91, of Toledo, passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2004, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Violetta was born on October 22, 1912, in Sullivan County, Indiana to Myrtle and William McGranahan. She was the widow of Walter Wood who preceded her in death in 1973. Mrs. Wood was employed for 24 years in the offices of the Sun Oil and Refining Company before her retirement in 1972. She was a member of East Christian Church for 73 years. Mrs. Wood served as a deaconess, and was active with the church's quilting ladies and many other church committees. She also volunteered for WPOS Christian radio. She leaves behind to mourn, daughter, Ruth Warns; sons, Darol (Charlene) Collins, Vernon Collins; stepdaughter, Sandra Snow; stepson James (Darlene) Wood; brother, Duane (Bunny) McGranahan; 5 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 9 great- grandchildren; 4 step great- grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson and two special pets, "Sweet Pea" and "Sylvester". She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Thelma Pierce; grandsons, David and Steve Warns. Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Wednesday from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. A.W. Farnsworth on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in East Christian Church, 525 S. Coy Road, Oregon. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Violetta's name are asked to consider either East Christian Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
