Virgil M. Miller, 77, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born on January 12, 1934 in Toledo, OH to Virgil and Alta (Wade) Miller. He graduated in 1953 from Waite HS. Virgil served in the US Naval Reserves from 1951-1953 and in the US Air Force from 1954-1958 which included overseas duty for 1 year in Korea.
He worked for the Toledo Board of Education as a stationary fireman for 7 years and then retiring from the Toledo Board of Health as a district sanitarian. He served as a business rep for AFSCME for 4 years in the early 1970's. Virgil was a member of the "Otters" and received "Otter of the Year" accolades in 1976 for his work volunteering in the fight against M.S. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #606. Virg enjoyed garage sales and was always on the hunt for the best deal. Make him a list of what you need and he would find it at the best price possible. You could often find him at the VFW Post spending time telling jokes and exchanging stories with his friends. On Friday's you could always count on him with the "Lunch Bunch" laughing and catching up at a local restaurant.
Virgil is survived by sons, Randall (Mary), Ronald (Julie), Russell and daughter Ruth (Ed) Rheinbolt; grandchildren: Kelly (Scott), Jennifer, Daniel, Ronald (Cristen), Erin, Kelsey, Randy, Kayleigh and Michael; great grandchildren: Roderic and Nolan; sister, Janie Jacob and former wife, Helen J. Miller. Special thanks to the entire staff at Parkcliffe Communities for their excellent care and comfort and to the nurses of Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
Virg's high school year book quoted "A ONE MAN CIRCUS RINGLING DOES NOT CONTROL" as he always enjoyed clowning around.
