Virginia "Chap" L. Chaplin of Oregon, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 12, 2004 at St. Charles Mercy Hospital. She was born on February 17, 1925 to Robert Lee and Lera Chaplin in Springfield, Missouri. Virginia retired from the Buckenmeyer and King, CPA's, after many years of service. "Ginny" was so very kind and thoughtful, and loved doing things with her nieces and nephews over the years. She had many close friends that she played cards with throughout her life. Thanksgiving and other get-togethers always included Cribbage, a game of Uno, or some other card game. Ginny was an avid fan of golf, tennis and figure skating. She will truly be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Surviving are her sisters, Mary (John) Toth, Oregon, OH and Sinia (Dick) Reed, Clermont, FL; sister-in-law, Thelma Chaplin, Toledo, OH; nieces, Joanne (George) Gancsos, Jackson, MI, Barb (Duane) Casares, Columbus, OH; nephews, Frank (Pam) Chaplin, Maumee, OH, Bill Chaplin, Toledo, OH, Tom Chaplin, Pinckney, MI, Rick (Pat) Reed, Winter Garden, FL, John (Chris) Toth, Milwaukee, WI, Rob (Deb) Toth, Oregon, OH and many great nieces and nephews. "Chap" also leaves behind many dear card playing friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lera and Robert Chaplin and brother, Robert L. Chaplin.
At Virginia's request, there will be no visitation. Graveside services for family and friends will be held at Toledo Memorial Park in Sylvania on Friday, January 16, 2004 at 11:30 a.m. The family request that any tributes in her memory be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donors choice. Ginny's family would like to thank Dr. Narra and the staff at St. Charles Hospital for their compassionate care during her brief stay. Also, thanks to Rev. Donald Corbin for his comforting presence.
