Virginia M. Diaz, 83, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April 29, 2016 at St. Charles Mercy Hospital. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 16, 1932 to Francisco and Lenora (Cruez) Martinez. Virginia married the love of her life, Benito L. Diaz on May 5, 1954. She worked in her earlier years at the historical Spitzer building as a beautician and then later at The Little Sisters of the Poor. Virginia also volunteered her time for 23 years preparing taxes at the Aurora Community Center. Her most cherished memories were taking long drives with her husband, vacationing in San Antonio and spending time with her family. Surviving is her husband of 62 years, Benito L.; children, Ronald Diaz, Mario (Michelle) Diaz, Debra A. Diaz, Benito M. Diaz; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Martin (Julie) and Santos (Prayong) Martinez. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Peggy L. Mora and Brenda S. Carter. Graveside services will be held at Highland Memory Gardens on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 1:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy in Virginia's name may be directed to American Cancer Society.
