Virginia I. Gerrard, 92, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2009, after a brief illness. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 7, 1916, to Stanley and Helen (Schato) Borkowski. Later she would be raised by her beloved mother Catherine Borkowski. Virginia had been employed as a seamstress at Superior Dry Cleaners for 30 years before her retirement. She was a member of Unity United Methodist Church and volunteered at the Salvation Army and the Cherry St. Mission. Surviving are her son, Richard Gerrard Jr.; sisters, Ursula Karnikowsi, Jane (Bernard) Alesi and Delores (Leonard) Bromer; brother and sister-in-law, Frank (Nyla) Gerrard and Mary Anne Vicario; many nieces and nephews including Jill Hamilton and Antoinette Vicario. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; sister, Charlotte Ledzianowski; brothers, Harold Borkowski, Stanley Borkowski. and Clem Borek. Funeral services will be conducted in Unity United Methodist Church, 1910 E. Broadway, Northwood, Ohio on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy in Virginia's memory can be made to Unity United Methodist Church, Salvation Army and the Cherry Street Mission.
