Virginia A. Knierim, 82 of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Sunday, February 26 2012, surrounded by her family. Virginia, Jean as she was known by, was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 28, 1929, to John Sr. and Mary (Hollo) Barva. On March 2, 1957, Virginia married the love of her life, James Knierim. She graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1947 and attended Davis Business College. After graduating she worked for the Toledo Trust Company.
Jean was a lifelong parishioner of St. Stephen'™s Catholic Church. She kept in touch with her friends from St. Stephen'™s school and Central Catholic for many years. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and wife.
She is survived by her son, Karl J. (Kim); daughter, Karen J. (Roger) Shambaugh, and Amy L. (Dean) Dilzell; grandchildren, Evan, Peter and Audrey Shambaugh; Eric and James Dilzell; and Ryan and Ross Knierim. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Barva, and husband James Knierim.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Stephen'™s Catholic Church on Friday March 2, at 10:00 A.M. The family with receive friends and family at the church beginning at 9:00 A.M. Interment will follow at St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery. Donations may be given to St. Stephen'™s Catholic Church, 1880 Genesee Street, Toledo. A special thanks to the nurses and staff on the third floor of the Lutheran Home and to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
