Obituary

Waldemar H. 'œCoke' Hoffmann, 88, of Toledo, peacefully passed away Wednesday January 25, 2012 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 13, 1923 to Frederick and Emma (Loge) Hoffmann. On January 1, 1946, started the year out 'œOn the right foot' as he would say, and married the love of his life Barbara Frede who preceded him in death February 8, 2006 after 60 years of marriage. As a young man he was in several local bands playing the clarinet and saxophone. Waldemar was a US Army Veteran of WW II., where he served in the Pacific Theater and was awarded 3 bronze stars. He started out his employment as a fireman for New York Central /Conrail railroad but soon became Engineer and after 40 years, retired in 1984. Waldemar enjoyed tinkering and working on machinery; he was interested and involved in everything from solar energy, oil painting, gardening, to making homemade wine. Waldemar was a passionate union advocate whose strong will and great sense of humor will be remembered and cherished by all. Waldemar is survived by his children; Waldemar F. (Connie) Hoffmann, Cliff Hoffmann, Glen (Karen) Hoffmann, and Marla (Dave) Stella; grandchildren, Michelle Keller, Jennifer (Tim) Root, Meaghan Hoffmann, Jason Bader, Rob Kern, Kimberly (Don) Pickron, Jason (Anna) Stella, Mike Stella, and Rocco (Sarah) Stella; great-grandchildren, Justin, Ayden, Zoee, Nate, Kaitlyn, Julia, and Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara, and sister, Alma Seeger. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road Oregon on Sunday, January 29th from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 am Monday in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, American Cancer Society, or a charity of the donors choice.
