Obituary

Wallace S. Winnie, 86, of Oregon, OH passed away on July 10, 2009, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born in Oak Harbor, Ohio on September 4, 1922, to Sylvester and Dorothy Winnie. He was a flight instructor with the Army Air Corps flying B-17's, B-25's and B-29's. Wallace also was a major in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He worked at Sun Oil as a lab technician for 40 years retiring in 1986 and was a member of the Oak Harbor Masonic Lodge #495 and an avid aviation buff. Surviving are his children, Cherie (Robert) Stock of Salinas, CA, Dennis and Sy Winnie both of Oregon, OH; grandson, Aaron Sannes of Portland, Oregon; sister, Maxine Van Allen of Oak Harbor, OH and niece, Gail Skinner of Fremont, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Bernadine. Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, July 13, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Lake Township Cemetery, Millbury Ohio. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Diabetes Association . Arrangements are being handled by the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Homes.
