Walter G. Biegala, 74, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on August 2, 2017 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 26, 1943 to Walter and Leona (Czyznikiewicz) Biegala. Walter proudly served in the United States Coast Guard from 1964-1981. He continued his life of service as a police officer working for the Toledo Police Department from 1965-1994 making his way through the ranks to Detective Sergeant. In 1982 he was a graduate of the 129th class of the FBI Academy. Upon retiring from the police department he worked as a coroner's investigator for the Lucas County Coroner until 2008. His service did not end with his career. He was a volunteer at Mercy St. Charles Hospital and was a sponsor for several people going through the AA program. Walter had a passion for fishing and golf. He pursued these passions with his wife as "snow-birds" visiting the Largo, Florida area since 2009. Nothing was more important to Walter than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In his early years he could often be found working with them on model train sets. This fueled his artistic side and he often gave the advice that if you are going to do something then do it right.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Marcia; son, Larry (Stephanie) Biegala; daughter, Kim Dunmyer; stepdaughter, Chris Hottman; stepson, Todd Drayton; grandchildren, Preston, Zachary, Faith, Daniel, Derek, Dylan, Kylee; great-granchild, Cadence; dog, Rudy.
