Walter "Wally" J. Moore, 65, of Oregon, OH passed away April 13, 2005 at the Wright Harvey House. He was born on June 25, 1939 in Boston, MA to Joseph and Edith (Blankey) Moore. Wally was employed by the Chrysler Jeep Corp. as a supervisor for 34 yrs., retiring in 1997. He was an MP in the US Army Reserves and a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, where he served as Athletic Director. Wally was involved in coaching and the operation of the CYO sports programs. He was also active with Cardinal Stritch Athletics for over 30 yrs., notably football, and was inducted in the Stritch Hall of Fame. Wally received awards for Outstanding Contributor in the N.W.O.C.A. and the Veteran Coaches Award for service to the CYO. He was an avid Notre Dame fan and enjoyed boating and fishing.
Surviving are his mother, Edith Moore; brothers, Jim (Kathy), Mike (Cherie) and Joe (Donna); sister-in-law, Karen and numerous nieces and nephews. Wally was preceded in death by his father, Joseph "Joe", and brother, Tom Moore, Sr.
Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Sunday from 2-9 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 7 pm. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Monday at 9:15 a.m. and proceed to St. Thomas Aquinas Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy in Wally's memory can be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Church or Cardinal Stritch High School.
