Obituary

William J. Akos, 64, of LaSalle, Michigan passed away in his residence, Sunday, December 19, 2004. Bill was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 16, 1940 to Willaim S. and Julianna (Timar) Akos. He attended Whittier Grade School and graduated from DeVilbiss High School where he played football in 1955-56-57. Bill also graduated from Montana State College where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was a Captian in the US Army and a veteran, serving his country during the Viet nam War, serving in Germany, Viet nam, Alaska and various stateside locations. Bill was awarded the Bronze Star and Army Commendation medals. Bill was a tax preparer for H & R Block and was also a buyer and salesman within the computer industry. He was a member of Calvin United Church of Christ. Bill was also a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, VFW #1193, Monroe, American Legion #88 , Monroe Rod and Gun Club, Republican Party. He was a Cub Scout Leader and an avid W.W.II memorabilia collector. On October 29, 1993 he married Margaret (Hasty) Woodard, who survives. Also surviving are his children, son, William C. (Wendy) and their children, Cassandra, Corrina, William D., son, John A. (Victoria) and their children, Samantha, Anna; daughter, Julie (John) Joseph and their children, Johno, Josh, Amanda, Lara, MacKenzie, Savannah; daughter, Helen Jean (Chad) Nosker and their children Christian, Ashley, Dawn, Kathryne, Julianna; stepsons, CW3 Steve Woodard, Brian (Jennifer)Woodard, David (Lynn) Woodard and their child, Aiden; Chris Woodard and his daughter, Brooke; aunt, Mary Seger. William was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Helen. Also surviving are numerous cousins and friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5-9 pm and on Monday from 2-9 at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday in the Calvin United Church of Christ,1946 Bakewell St. and where the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in North Oregon Cemetery. Visitation: Visitation Times Sun., Dec.26, 5-9pm & Mon.,Dec.27, 2-9 pm Coy Road Chapel
