William C. Ehrsam passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 5, 1930 to Charles and Gladys Ehrsam. Bill graduated from Clay High School in 1947, where he played football for 4 years and was captain of the team. Bill married Marlene (Lauman-Fouty) Ehrsam on July 23, 2010.
He lived in Oregon all his life and farmed with his Dad and his son, Chuck. Bill served on various committees in Oregon and was a volunteer fireman for 11 years as Captain. He worked for the city as foreman of the street department in Oregon Township. He also worked for Lake Front Docks for 40 years retiring in 1990. William was a life long member of First St. John Lutheran Church where he was finance chairman and also taught catechism.
He is survived by his wife Marlene; son, Charles, daughter, LuAnn (John) Spoerl, step-son, Jon (Sue) Fouty, grandchildren, Joshua Ehrsam, Jennifer (Kevin) Koester, Amanda Spoerl, Megan (Dwayne) Norwalk and 2 great-grandchildren, Ryan Camp and Liam Koester. He was preceded in death by his first wife Frances (Fran) and parents.
Friends may call at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday from 2:00-9:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 am Friday in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First St. John Lutheran Church Current or Debt Fund or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
