William F. Harder, 88, formerly of Walbridge, Ohio, passed away Friday, December 24, 2010 in the Lutheran Home at Toledo. He was born in Toledo, OH on May 9, 1922 to William and Wilhelmina (Behnke) Harder. William retired as an equipment operator from Gulf Oil in 1981 after 35 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and a member of St. Peter'™s Lutheran Church, Martin, OH. William also was a member of the Ross Township Volunteer Fire Department, Paragon Lodge, Zenobia Shrine Director'™s Staff, VFW posts in Toledo and Walbridge, American Legion Arthur Daly Post and Moose Lodge in Fremont, OH.
Surviving are his sons, Robert (Lola) and John (Julia) Harder; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Olive 'œPolly' and 5 siblings.
Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Monday, January 3, 2011 from 4-9 p.m. with Paragon Lodge services at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with interment following in Elliston Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in William'™s memory may be made to the Shriner'™s Children'™s Burn Unit.
