Obituary

William E. Iman Jr., 68, of Oregon , Ohio passed away November 4, 2008, at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor surrounded by his loving family. Dr. Iman was born to William and Clara (Bosley) Iman in Capon Bridge , West Virginia on July 20, 1940. He was a U S Marine Corp veteran and a life member and present commander of VFW Post # 9816. Dr. Iman graduated from Fort Ashby High School at the age of 16 and joined the Marine Corps. Bill was a loving and giving husband, father, "Papaw" and "Great-Papaw". He lived a fulfilling life raising 3 children, often working 3 jobs at a time while attending college. He worked at the Alleghany Ballistic Laboratory x-raying parts for the Polaris Missile and also as an Insurance agent for Prudential Insurance. In Morgantown, WV he started the first Parent Teacher Organization at his children's school and was Scout Master for his son's Cub Scout Pack. Bill graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1969. Upon graduating WV University he was accepted into The Ohio State University Veterinary College. While at OSU he was the treasurer of the OTS professional fraternity. He graduated from OSU Veterinary College in 1973. Upon graduation he moved his family north to the Toledo area, where he practiced Veterinary Medicine for 25 years, 18 of those in Oregon, Ohio at Iman Veterinary Hospital, now Maumee Bay Veterinary Hospital owned by his son-in-law, Dr. Kevin Soncrant. He was an active member of the WV Alumni Association and past-President of the Ohio Veterinary Alumni Association. He has been a long standing member of the American, Ohio, and Toledo Veterinary Medical Associations. Other distinctions include: past-President of OTS Professional Veterinary Fraternity Alumni Association-Gamma Chapter, past-President of TVMA, Treasurer of the OVMA for 10 years, AVMA GHLIT Trustee for 12 years, and chairman for 2 years. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge and Oregon Senior Center. He worked with the USDA for 12 years as a Veterinarian, retiring 2 1/2 years ago. He loved to travel, fish, work in his yard and garden. He left his "legacy of love" inspiring us all with his strong belief in always helping anyone and everyone that needed help. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a great joy in his life. He leaves behind to honor and cherish him, his loving wife of 49 years, Ella Mae; sister, Irene Riggleman; brother, Samuel (Frances) Iman, and sister, Dolores (Tim) McCormick; son, Steve E. (Adelita) Iman; daughters, Debra (Kevin) Soncrant, and Brenda (Lisa) Iman; grandchildren, Steve E. Iman II, Robert (Andrea) Iman, Heather (Jesse) Soncrant, Melissa (Steve) Soncrant, Eric (Jada) Clingo, and Thomas (Sara) Clingo; great-grandchildren, Kaedyn, Wilder, Lillian, Lucas and Cassady, and many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bruce Edward Bosley. A memorial service with military honors will be conducted on Saturday, November 15, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, where visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. Contributions in Bill's memory may be made to the American Heart Association or Omega Tau Sigma Scholarship Fund.
