William "Bill" Maier of Toledo, OH, passed away September 17, 2007, in his home. He was born in Toledo, OH, to Helen V. (Pilarski) and William F. Maier, Sr. on January 1, 1952. Bill worked for GM Powertrain for 30 years, going on disability in 2001, then retiring in 2003. He enjoyed fishing, watching his favorite NASCAR driver, Tony Stewart, and doing things with his family. Spontaneous picnics, traveling to Ohio's historical sites, scouting functions, and working on his house were among his interests. Bill nurtured his love of racing in his kids, taking them to numerous local events, and helping Bob with NASCAR die cast collectibles. He enjoyed working on cars and lawnmowers, and encouraged this in his kids. Most recently, he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and trying to enjoy his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Scott; his father, William Sr. and his brother, Lawrence. He is survived by his mother, Helen; sons, Michael J and Robert A; daughter, Ramona J. (Brian) Pressnell; uncle, George Pilarski; ex-wife and special friend, Kathleen Maier; grandchildren, Brian and Jocelyne.
There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 24, 2007 at 1 p.m. in the Goodwill Spiritualist Church, 300 E. Breckman Road, Walbridge, OH.
