Obituary

William E. Meier, 93, along with twin sister, and two older brothers were born to parents Charles and Anna (Orosz) Meier. He was a life-long mechanic, having been employed by the former Rossford Ordinance Depot, and then retiring from the Shawaker Co. William served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was in charge of the motor pool for his outfit and assisted part time with the medics. William'™s military career included Omaha Beach, the Battle of the Bulge and the liberation of two concentration camps, Auchwitz and Buchenwald. William enjoyed the church choir at Calvin United Church, as well as making kolbasz for special occasions. William is survived by wife, Ida; son, Michael (Carol); grandchildren, Robert(Robyn) and Jeff Dandar and 5 great grandchildren. Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday at 1:00p.m. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to Calvin United Church of Christ. Visitation: Wednesday, 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Services: Thursday, 1:00 p.m. Interment: Private
