William Perez, 85, of Toledo, Ohio and formerly of Genoa, Ohio, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017, surrounded by loved ones. William was born in Puerto Rico on November 21, 1932 to Curmelo and Asucision (Nieves) Perez. On May 29, 1954, he married the love of his life, Maria Algarin. After moving to the United States, Mr. Perez worked at Great Lakes Window, retiring in 1998. William and his family were dedicated members of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Genoa where he was ordained as a Deacon June 26, 1983 and ministered to many in the Hispanic community of Genoa, Ohio. He was a 4th Degree member of Genoa Knights of Columbus Council # 4237. His true passion was spending time with his family; especially his children and grandchildren. William is survived by his children, Maria Perez-Smenner, William Jr., Eddie, Mayda (Leo) Lynch, grandchildren, Arquimedes Tull, Clarivel (Ron) Tull-Gratop, Carl Robinson, Sõna Teresa Shroreder, William Michael Perez, Christopher Luis Perez; great grandchildren, Alaynah, Carmyn, Jackson, William Michael , Jeremiah, Xavier, and Mila; Siblings, Angel Perez, Norma Perez, and Mildalia Perez; along with many loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maria; and siblings, Roberto Perez and Carmin Perez. The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (east of I-280) on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 204 South Main Street, Genoa, where the family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Alzheimer Association of Northwest Ohio. The Perez family would like to thank Miss Soto, Yesenia, and Regina, Ruby, and Brenda for the loving care provided over the past years.
