William R. "Bill" Wallace, 80, of Curtice, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his family. Bill was born in Roseville, Ohio on December 19, 1928, to Robert and Florence (Crooks) Wallace. He was a 1950 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. Mr. Wallace served as a pharmacist for several East Side pharmacies. From 1953 through 1966 he was store manager and a member of the board of directors of Collins & Parker Pharmacy. He would then join Von Ewegen's Pharmacy where he was store manager and served as president of the board. In 1983 he became manager at Kroger's Pharmacy until his retirement in 1994. He also served as a Medical Services representative for Parke-Davis. He was a member and served on the board of directors of the Ohio State Pharmaceutical Association and Toledo Academy of Pharmacy where he served on the board of directors and as president and was selected Man of the Year. Mr. Wallace was also a consulting pharmacist at the Lutheran Old Folks Home and was a member of several City of Toledo Physician-Pharmacists committees. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; son, Robert (Sally) Wallace; daughters, Mary Anne (Robert) Nicholson, Kathy (JayDee) Wallace, Patti (Dale) Wallace and Martha Wallace-Kania; sister, Kate (William) Hamilton; 10 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James; brother, Ray Wallace; sisters, Jean New-houser, Wilma Parker. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions in Bill's memory be given to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center Palliative Care Fund.
