William E. Walters, 87, of Northwood, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at The Gardens of St. Francis. William was born on February 24, 1937 in Toledo, Ohio to William and Mary (Rollo) Walters.
He was a 1955 graduate of Lake High School and continued his education at Bowling Green State University where he earned his master's degree and played baseball as a centerfielder from 1957-1959. Bill went on to teach Health and Phys Ed at Eisenhower Middle School, retiring in 1996. After 36 years of teaching, Bill worked for the Village of Millbury for fifteen years, retiring in 2013. He was a talented musician who could play by ear and wrote many songs. He was a faithful member of St. Jerome Catholic Church. Bill was known to entertain everyone he met with his play on words and love of puns. Bill will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving is his wife, Madlyn; daughter, Rebecca (Brian) Pennington; son, Eric (Heather) Walters; grandchildren, Joel (Megan), Kate (Tommy), Steve, Gabby, and Luke; great-grandchildren, Rose and June; and siblings, Corky (Shirley) Walters, Rich (Beth) Walters, and Sue Walters-Claburn.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and sister, LouAnn Fisher.
The family will receive friends at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Rd. (east of I-280), Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Celebration of Life at 12:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Parkinson's Foundation.
