William G. Warnke, 76, of Oregon, OH, passed away on Friday, August 20, 2004, in St. Charles Mercy Hospital. He was born July 20, 1928, to Otto and Marie (Schmidt) Warnke. William was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was employed by the Oregon Board of Education where he retired as maintenance supervisor in 1995. Prior to working for Oregon Schools William was a self employed contractor, building residential homes in Oregon and the surrounding community. William was a member of First St. John Lutheran Church, where he had served as a trustee on the property and maintenance committee.
Surviving are his daughters, Diane (David) Habegger, Darlene (Walt) Metzger, and Denise (Brian) McGee; son, David (Lore) Warnke; sisters, June Perry) Brown, Jean DeWitt, and Geraldine (Jerome) Klein; grandchildren, Jacob and William Warnke, Steve, Shelli and Kristin Habegger, Dennis (Tracy) Metzger and Joshua Metzger and great-granddaughter, Katelyn Metzger. William was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Madelyn, and sister, Shirley Likens.
Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road at Starr Avenue, where visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in First St. John's Lutheran Church, 2471 Seaman Rd., Toledo. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. Contributions in William's memory can be made to either First St. John Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Home at Toledo.
