Willie Horace Whited, 84, of Genoa, OH, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2005, in Toledo Hospital. He was born in Ivyton, TN, on August 11, 1921, to Sanford and Myrtle (Smith) Whited. During WWII, Willie helped redesign the engine for the B29 Bomber while employed with Teledyne as a service engineer, where he retired in 1983 after 35 years of service. Before his retirement, he helped design the cruise missile engines. Willie was a professional bowler in the Toledo area for many years and was the owner of the Bowler's Supply & Sporting Goods Store in Toledo. Mr. Whited had a strong faith, teaching Bible classes for 50 years and was an evangelist for 30 years. His last 15 years at Teledyne he taught Bible school classes during his lunch break. In his free time, he enjoyed playing the guitar and singing southern gospel. Willie was a member of the Neighborhood Freewill Baptist Church in Oregon. Mr. Whited loved helping people. He was a very caring and compassionate person who touched the lives of many people and will be dearly missed by all.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Betty; daughters, Linda (Dean) Sullivan, Patricia (Rick) Show, and Teresa Ann (Kenneth) Hutton; sons, Tony (Staci) and Bill (Brenda); 24 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren. Willie was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Elizabeth Sue Frost, and brother, Sanford Morace Whited.
Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Rd., on Tuesday, August 23, 2005, from 2 until 9 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Clay Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Willie's name may be sent to the Sunshine Children's Home. The Whited family would like to give a special thanks to the Toledo Hospital Coronary Care Unit for all their loving care.
