Winifred Hirzel Rathke, 93, formerly of Northwood, OH, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2008 at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio inpatient unit in Perrysburg.  Winifred was born in Toledo on June 2, 1915 to Fred and Hattie (Lueck) Hirzel.  She was the widow of Nevin Rathke who preceded her in death in 1994.  Winifred was employed as a sales clerk at Tiedtke's and also worked at the family business, Hirzel Brothers Greenhouse. Mrs. Rathke was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Millbury, its Ladies Guild, and the Red Hat Society at Kingston of Perrysburg. She also enjoyed playing cards, reading and enjoyed attending her book club. Surviving is her daughter, Jill (John Chudzinski) Rathke; son, Todd (Susan) Rathke; granddaughter, Bonnie Jean Chudzinski; grandson, Alexander Rathke and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Alexander Hirzel and sister, Henrietta Flatter. Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road, Millbury on Sunday from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 11:00 am in St Peter United Church of Christ, 28505 Main Street, Millbury. Interment will be private.  Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Mrs. Rathkes memory are asked to consider either St. Peter United Church of Christ or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
