Obituary

Zora Ozanski, 91 of East Toledo, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. She was born Jan. 9, 1926, to Anton and Matilda Valencic in Kane, Pennsylvania. She attended Waite High School and shortly after married the love of her life, Theodore Ozanski on November 20, 1943. She had several jobs including working for Willy's Overland and was manager of Woolworth's lunch counter. She was most proud of working for her son at Clear Images until age 84. She was also very proud of the 35 years as a Volunteer of the St. Charles Hospital Guild where she made several of the items sold in the gift shop. A plaque in the lobby of the hospital bears her name. Zora was very active, she bowled in the Toledo Tavern Owners Women's League until the age of 89. Most of all she enjoyed spending her summers, where she was a founding member of the Catawba Point Association and the Pink Ladies of CPA, she was a very active fundraiser for the association and never missed an event. She was well known for her crafts and her fabulous cooking. Zora is survived by her children; Elizabeth (Gerald) Yoder, Patricia (Ronald) Oswanski, Vickie Smiley, Frank (Diana) Ozanski; brother, Frank Valencic; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Theodore Ozanski Sr.; son Theodore Ozanski Jr. and son-in-law, Michael Smiley. Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Epiphany of the Lord Parish – St. Thomas Aguinas Catholic Church, 729 White St. Toledo, Ohio 43605 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks memorial contributions in Zora's name be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the staff and volunteers of Hospice that took care of her during her stay there. Their tender care-giving was very much appreciated.
